”Hey There Delilah” de Plain White T’s nesta edição de ”Muito Além da Música”

é uma música de 2005 lançada e composta pela banda Plain White T’s para integrar seu álbum All That We Needed e logo se transformou em um dos maiores sucessos do início da década de 2000, alcançando o topo das paradas em diversos países.

Tom Higgenson, o vocalista do Plain White T’s, revelou na época que compôs a letra da canção depois de conhecer uma jovem chamada Delilah DiCrescenzo, uma atleta de cross country e maratonista de corrida de obstáculos, por meio de um amigo.  Tom também revelou que sentiu um amor à primeira vista por Delilah, e começou a refletir o que ele gostaria de dizer a ela caso estivessem juntos, foi quando em 2004, ele apresentou a ela a letra de uma música inteira escrita em ré maior. A atleta, no entanto, encontrou algumas dificuldades em lidar com a popularidade da música que foi lançada somente no ano seguinte.

A música foi indicada a dois Grammy Awards em 2008 e Delilah, inspiração para a música, compareceu a cerimônia de premiação de Canção do Ano como convidada de Tom Higgenson. Antes de sua enorme repercussão, a canção foi eleita uma das melhores músicas do ano de 2007, ficando em sétima colocação das dez rankeadas naquele ano.

Imortalizada pelo Plain White T’s, Hey There Delilah se tornou um hino dos relacionamentos à distância, e se tornou a música mais popular que fala a respeito desse tema, unindo amor, determinação, esperança, sentimentos, distância e romance em um só lugar.

Também no ano de 2007, o memorável e atemporal hit do grupo constou na lista das 100 melhores músicas dos anos 2000 pela rede de televisão estadunidense VH1.
